Most human conflict and irrational behavior becomes legible once you see the hidden status transaction underneath. People will sacrifice money, health, and relationships to protect or gain status because our brains evolved in small groups where status literally determined survival and reproductive access. The deepest insight is that status games are unavoidable — even 'rejecting status games' is itself a status move within communities that value authenticity — so the real skill is choosing which games to play consciously rather than being played by them unconsciously.
